Just like when you fell down as a kid and skinned your knee...healing takes time. Sometimes changes need to be made. Sometimes the changes are very scary, like ripping the Band-Aid off of your knee. I remember when I fell down and skinned my knee (many, many times). My grandmother would give me a hug until I quit crying, put medicine on my bloody knee and a Band-Aid and send me back out to play.
I think it is safe to say we are here because we have been through some kind of trauma in our lives. I will offer hugs and Band-Aids when I can but most of all, I'm a good listener. I hope here we can help each other through the darkness to a better place of healing. :)

Well said Tara. I recall when i was younger, my grandmother used to do the exact same thing...except she would also put some blood-red antiseptic on there which was called mercurochrome. Let me tell you, that stuff burned like the dickens! It isn't sold in the US any longer, and I say good riddance. I hated that stuff.
The reason I went into that is because a band-aid isn't enough. You can put the band-aid over a wound, but unless you kill the bacteria present, it won't heal sufficiently and may get worse. So, for the ones who are still hurting, and whose wounds are deep, there may be times when you read or hear things on the board that are painful. Hearing all the stories of marriages that ended because of their spouse coming out, when all you want to do is save yours. I know it hurts, but it's a necessary part of the healing process and its antiseptic properties may speed your healing.
